CAPIZ – This province has recorded a total of 724 dengue cases with three fatalities from January 1 to June 14 this year, according to the Capiz Provincial Health Office (CPHO).
Based on the latest data released by the CPHO, two deaths were recorded in the municipality of Jamindan and one in Dumalag.
The current figure marks a 46.65% increase compared to the 504 cases reported during the same period last year, spanning Morbidity Week 1 to Morbidity Week 24.
Dengue cases were recorded across various localities in the province, with Roxas City reporting the highest number at 242 cases, followed by Tapaz with 98, Jamindan with 49, and Panay with 47. Mambusao logged 40 cases; Dumarao, 30; Pontevedra, 29; Panitan, 27; and Dao, 26. Dumalag recorded 24 cases; Maayon, 19; Sigma, 17; and President Roxas, Sapi-an, and Ivisan each with 16. Meanwhile, Pilar had 15 cases and Cuartero registered 13.
Also, three barangays in Roxas City have been identified as having a clustering of cases — defined as recording at least three cases within four consecutive weeks. These are Baybay, Culasi, and Milibili.
The provincial government, through the CPHO, continues to remind the public to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.
Residents are urged to observe the “Mag 5S Kontra Dengue: Patyon ang Kiti-Kiti, Tapnaon ang Dengue” campaign, which includes the following key actions:
* Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites
* Self-protection measures
* Seek early consultation
* Support fogging in hotspot areas
* Sustain adequate hydration
