CAPIZ – In celebration of National Arbor Day, the provincial government of Capiz, led by Gov. Fredenil H. Castro, conducted a tree-planting activity on June 25, in Barangay Bag-ong Barrio, Tapaz, to promote local participation in environmental protection.
The activity was held in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 396 and Republic Act No. 10176, which institutionalize National Arbor Day — a nationwide initiative that promotes a healthier environment, mitigates the impacts of climate change, and enhances biodiversity through tree planting, reforestation, and environmental rehabilitation.
Hundreds of native and fruit-bearing seedlings were planted on a vacant hillside in the barangay to help increase forest cover, raise awareness on the importance of biodiversity conservation, improve air quality, and build climate resilience.
The event was organized by the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO), headed by Ronald Allan F. Cullo, and brought together employees from various provincial government offices who united under one goal: to promote environmental stewardship through active participation in tree planting.
