Bacolod CLO serves notice to vacate to illegal occupants in Brgy. 16

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) has issued a notice to vacate more than a hundred individuals and entities illegally occupying areas surrounding the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) office in Barangay 16.

The notice, signed by City Legal Officer Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu on July 2, 2025 was directed at all concerned occupants, including vendors and individuals, who have unlawfully taken over the road and adjacent areas near the SK building.

Chiu emphasized the urgency of the matter and directed the illegal occupants to voluntarily vacate and remove all belongings and obstructions from the area within five days upon receipt of the notice.

“Should you fail to comply with this notice, this office shall be compelled to initiate the clearing of things, properties, and improvements unlawfully introduced by you — at your own expense. We will also be forced to impose appropriate sanctions in accordance with existing laws and regulations,” the notice stated.

Executive Assistant Levy Pangue, who accompanied the CLO team in serving the notice, said the city is serious about enforcing the order and will begin clearing operations immediately after the five-day period.

Aside from illegal structures, authorities also observed that several individuals have used the area as a personal parking space, dumping ground for stockpiles, and storage for old, damaged vehicles — all of which obstruct the proper use of government property.

This is expected to be the first road-clearing operation under the new administration of Mayor Greg Gasataya, as part of his effort to reclaim public spaces and enforce city ordinances./PN
