Tay Tung volleyball team manager honored by DepEd-Bacolod

BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts women’s volleyball team manager Jose Montalbo has been recognized for his outstanding dedication and significant contributions to local sports development.

Montalbo received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Education, Division of Bacolod City in a special ceremony held recently at the Bacolod Arts Center.

Montalbo was cited for his role in mentoring and guiding young Bacolodnon athletes who represented the city and Western Visayas during the 2025 Palarong Pambansa recently.

The recognition underscores his unwavering commitment to nurturing talent, fostering discipline, and helping student-athletes realize their full potential on and off the court.

“His unwavering commitment greatly enhanced the success of Bacolodnon athletes during the 2025 Palarong Pambansa,” stated in Montalbo’s citation.

The DepEd Bacolod award also acknowledges the broader impact of Montalbo’s work beyond just wins and championships. 

Through his initiatives, numerous student-athletes have gained confidence, improved academically, and become role models in their schools and communities.

Montalbo expressed his deep gratitude to the education sector for recognizing his efforts, saying the award fuels his drive to do more for the local sports community.

“Of course, I am grateful for this recognition,” said Montalbo. “This further inspires me to continue nurturing talent, instilling discipline, and fostering teamwork among our student-athletes.”
