ILOILO City – The No. 1 most wanted person in Region 4-A, or Calabarzon, for 94 counts of statutory rape was arrested on Monday, July 21, in Barangay THTP Poblacion, Maasin, Iloilo.
The 52-year-old alias “Joseph”, a resident of Barangay San Isidro, Sibunag, Guimaras, was collared at 12:30 p.m. through an arrest warrant issued by Judge Arnold Rimon Martinez of the Regional Trial Court – Branch 108 in Cabuyao City, Laguna, dated April 11, 2025.
According to Colonel Rhea Santos, director of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO), they received information that the suspect went to hide in Maasin town after learning that he had arrest warrants.
Santos said the suspect was accused for raping two minor sisters sometime last year.
“The suspect was the house helper of the victims’ parents and the incident happened everytime the parents were not around,” Santos told Panay News.
The suspect faced 75 counts of statutory rape and 19 more counts of statutory rape defined and penalized under Article 266 (a) paragraph 1 of the RPC as amended by Republic Act (RA) 8353, as further amended by RA 11648. He was also charged for acts of lasciviousness (RPC Art. 336) in relation to RA 7610.
The suspect is currently detained at the Sibunag police station pending transfer to the Police Regional Office 4A.
The court recommended no bail for the statutory rape charges, while bail was set at
P80,000.00 for the acts of lasciviousness case./PN
