ALL is well between Heart Evangelista and Rica Peralejo after the latter clarified that her remark about the fashion personality not experiencing hardships like most people was not meant to demean her.
Peralejo previously made a social media post about how one would need more than beauty treatments to be on the same “level” as Evangelista’s beauty.
“It is also those little unseen things. She does not lose sleep taking care of her kids, she doesn’t need to cook or wash the dishes. Lift heavy things, or sleep in substandard materials or places,” Peralejo said. “In short: she does not struggle like most of us do.”
Peralejo then clarified that her statement is not a critique of Evangelista, as she underscored that it is the latter and other celebrities’ job to maintain a pleasing appearance.
“But we need to mind our own reality so we don’t suffer from false comparisons,” she added.
Peralejo, who has already taken down her post, then issued a clarification via a TikTok video after it drew criticisms — with one netizen calling her out for supposedly “hating and demeaning” Evangelista.
She noted that she actually realized why her post came off negatively, which was why she edited it. Unfortunately, it was “too late.”
“What I was saying is that people like her, or celebs — if you are going to compare it to normal people, we have two different realities,” Peralejo explained in the video which she also later removed from her TikTok page. “[Heart] doesn’t do a lot of things that common people do because her job calls her to preserve herself,” she said, adding how she also did the same when she was still active as an actress.
Peralejo also stressed that she understands Evangelista’s personal struggles and that she never meant the latter’s life was easier just because she has no child.
“I don’t hate Heart. I don’t think that she has an all-easy, happy life,” she added. “I don’t mean na mas mahihirapan ako kaysa sa kanya. No, I’m not comparing. In fact, the point of my message is we shouldn’t compare.”
Evangelista apparently did not take offense at Peralejo’s remark as she left a comment on the latter’s post, saying, “Don’t worry, Ate Rix. We’ve been friends a long time. Love you always and always.”
Peralejo, in turn, expressed her appreciation for the fashion personality and wrote, “Love you always too! Thanks for taking the time!” (Anne Pasajol © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
