CAPIZ – The Binuntucan Health Station of Barangay Binuntucan, Pontevedra town was formally certified as Level 1 Adolescent-Friendly Health Facility (AFHF).

According to the Capiz Provincial Health Office (CPHO), the heath station is the first barangay-based AFHF in the province – a testament to the dedicated efforts and unwavering commitment of both barangay and municipal leadership to improve the health and well-being of adolescents by providing services that are accessible, safe, and tailored to the needs of young people.

These services are designed under the standards set forth by the Department of Health (DOH), emphasizing the importance of youth-friendly care in fostering healthier communities.

Mayor Henry D. Tumlos, along with Municipal Health Officer Dr. Marizen Nolasco and Adolescent Health and Development focal person Jonieden Tumlos, led the awarding of certificate of compliance to Binuntucan Health Station represented by midwife Geziel T. Dario and barangay captain Tomasa Delos Reyes.

Also present were representatives from the Pontevedra Primary Care Facility, Barangay Binuntucan health workers and other local officials.

Meanwhile, in recognition of its official accreditation as Level 1 AFHF, the Binuntucan Health Station received various medical supplies from the CPHO.

The turnover of supplies was led by Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Ramon Alex T. Nolasco, Population Program Officer III Mary Grace Somil, and Population Program Officer II Myleen Dogeli.

The said recognition reflects the power of collaboration between provincial, municipal and barangay stakeholders in advancing adolescent health, the CPHO said.

It added: “Let us continue to serve for our youth. May this recognition inspire other communities across the province to prioritize and champion adolescent-friendly care at the grassroots level.”/PN
