CAPIZ – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) committee on health here is eyeing to establish a wellness center in the province to improve access to healthcare for Capisnons.
SP member Cesar S. Yap, Jr., chairperson of the aforementioned committee, convened a committee hearing aimed at advancing key health initiatives that reflect the province’s dedication to the health and well-being of every Capisnon.
The central focus of their agenda was the proposed establishment of the Provincial Health Office’s (PHO) Wellness Center. This center is envisioned as a vital resource for the community, serving as a centralized hub for the delivery of essential primary care services aligned with the Philippine Health and Insurance Corp.’s (PhilHealth) Konsulta Package.
This initiative, according to Yap, is expected to improve access to healthcare for residents, ensuring that they receive comprehensive and quality medical attention.
Moreover, the committee examined the development and potential approval of a groundbreaking ordinance concerning the “First One Thousand Days (F1KD+) of Life.”
This comprehensive health and nutrition program is designed to prioritize early childhood development, recognizing that the first thousand days of a child’s life are crucial for their growth and overall well-being. By focusing on this critical period, the program aims to provide families with the necessary resources and support to foster healthy development and nutrition for infants and toddlers.
These collective efforts signify a substantial move toward realizing a healthier Capiz, guided by policies that embody inclusive and people-centered health governance. The SP committee is deeply committed to ensuring that every Capisnon, especially the most vulnerable populations, receives the best possible start in life and ongoing support throughout their health journey.
For its part, the PHO said: “We invite everyone to be part of our mission to cultivate the healthiest Capisnons and create a thriving community where everyone has the opportunity to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.”
Also present during the committee hearing were SP embers Gilbert O. Ardivilla and Cecilio F. Fecundo./PN
