Western Visayas’ No. 2 fugitive falls

ILOILO City – The second most wanted person in Western Visayas was arrested on Monday, August 5, in Barangay THTP Poblacion, Maasin, Iloilo after a year of hiding.

The 27-year-old alias “Jie,” a resident of the town’s Barangay Nasuli, was taken into custody by the Maasin Municipal Police Station after he was arrested at around 10 a.m. He is facing rape charges.

According to Police Lieutenant Cyrone Empedrad of Maasin MPS, the incident took place last year in Alimodian town where the suspect served as a helper in the victim’s house.

“Based on the information, the suspect went to Manila after learning that the case was filed against him. However, he recently went home and we immediately served his warrant,” said Empedrad.

Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), commended his personnel for their exemplary performance in the apprehension of the region’s top fugitive.

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), led by Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, recently directed all unit commanders and police chiefs to intensify their operations against fugitives and other lawless elements./PN
