Capital1 edges Kaya-Iloilo, claims PAGSS futsal title

MANILA – Capital1 Solar Energy marked a triumphant entry into women’s football by clinching the championship of the PAGSS Women’s Futsal Cup with a 1-0 victory over Kaya FC-Iloilo at the University of Asia and the Pacific gym.

Regine Rebosura delivered the decisive goal in the second half, sealing the win in a tightly contested final. The result capped an impressive campaign for the Solar Strikers, who completed the tournament undefeated across six matches.

The team, co-owned by sisters Milka and Mandy Romero and mentored by Far Eastern University coach Let Dimzon, dominated the elimination round without conceding a single goal.

Goalkeeper Yasmin Elauria anchored the defense with consistent performances throughout the tournament.

“This win at the Women’s Futsal Cup is a meaningful step for our young Capital1 Solar Strikers team. With a solid mix of experienced players and top-tier coaching, we’re on the right path in building stronger foundations for the team,” said co-owner Mandy Romero.

“Our team showed resilience and cohesion from the very start. Congratulations to our players and to all the other teams that participated as we aim to build and support women’s football altogether,” she added.

Rebosura’s stellar display earned her the adidas MVP award, while Elauria received the Bootcamp Golden Glove. Both were also named to the Cherry Turf Mythical Five alongside Yonah Dela Calzada (Makati FC), Maye Mendaño (Kaya FC-Iloilo), and Regina Aliping (Azzurri FC).

Capital1’s road to the title included wins over Makati FC (2-0), Forza (10-0), Pinay 5 (1-0), and Beach Hut (5-0), before edging Azzurri FC, 3-2, in a tightly contested semifinal.

The victory in the futsal cup follows another strong showing for the team in the PFF Women’s League, where they finished third under Dimzon’s leadership./PN
