MANILA – The Creamline Cool Smashers extended their reign of consistency in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), storming into their 18th straight Final Four appearance with a commanding straight-sets demolition of the Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-19, 25-19, 26-24, in the quarterfinals of the PVL On Tour on Saturday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The 10-time PVL champions opened the match with a blistering 7-0 run and never looked back, neutralizing every Foxies rally with sharp serving and steady execution.
Setter Kyle Negrito shone brightest, earning Best Player of the Game honors with 21 excellent sets and six points, including five service aces.
“I’m so happy that we made it to the semis. One goal at a time,” Negrito said. “Disiplina sa training… pina-practice din namin ang service target, at happy ako na nagawa ko today.”
Michele Gumabao spearheaded Creamline’s scoring with 15 points, while Alyssa Valdez and Jessica Galanza chipped in 12 and 10, respectively. Jeanette Panaga sealed the win with a match-point service ace in the third set.
For Farm Fresh, Trisha Tubu fired a game-high 20 points, followed by Caitlin Viray with nine and Rizza Cruz with six. Jolina Dela Cruz was limited to four markers.
“Sabi ko nga sa kanila, lahat ng team ngayon lumalaban, so it’s better na bantayan natin ‘yung mga area natin individually,” said Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses. “So, pag nagsama-sama ‘yun, magiging maganda ang resulta.”
In the other quarterfinal showdown, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers overpowered the NxLed Chameleons, 25-17, 25-15, 25-20, to punch their ticket to the semifinals.
Ilongga Princess Anne Robles paced the Crossovers with 12 points, while Victonara Galang and Renee Penafiel added 11 each, and Imee Hernandez had 10.
On defense, Karen Verdeflor stood tall with 18 excellent digs and six excellent receptions, while setter Jasmine Nabor delivered 14 excellent sets and contributed five points./PN
