ILOILO City – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has confiscated P74.2 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 262 suspects in less than eight months of intensified anti-narcotics operations.

Records from IPPO showed that from January to August 12, police stations across the province conducted 203 operations, leading to the arrest of 77 high-value individuals (HVIs) and 185 street-level suspects.

In total, authorities seized 10.915 kilos of suspected shabu valued at P74.2 million.

The IPPO’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) posted the highest number of arrests with 33 suspects and recovered P24.7 million worth of shabu. This was followed by Estancia Municipal Police Station with 32 arrests and P8.4 million worth of seizures, and Passi City Police Station with 18 arrests and P1.1 million worth of recovered drugs.

The biggest haul this month occurred on August 10. Around P2 million worth of shabu was seized from four suspects in an anti-drug operation in Barangay Poblacion Zone 2, Estancia.

Recovered were 280 grams of suspected shabu from suspects identified only by their aliases: “Trenos,” 31, and “Buloy,” 40, both residents of the barangay; “Caloy,” 32, of Barangay Cano-an, Estancia; and “Rikoy,” 41, of Barangay Guinticdan, Carles.

IPPO director Colonel Bayani Razalan commended his personnel for their dedication in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Kahit maraming trabaho ang ating mga pulis, naka-perform pa rin sila ng maayos sa ating kampanya laban sa droga. We assure the Ilonggos that we will continue to fight against illegal drugs, lawless elements, loose firearms, and other illegal activities to maintain peace and order in this province,” Razalan said./PN
