CAPIZ – Bringing books and stories directly to children in remote communities, the Capiz Provincial Library’s Dali Mabasa Kita Mobile Library Program reached 189 young learners during its August run, held on August 8, at Maximo Dais Elementary School in Barangay Jolongajog, Pontevedra town.
Organized by the Capiz Provincial Library under the supervision of the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) and in partnership with Book Nook–LGU Capiz, the program aims to boost literacy, foster a love for reading, and make learning materials accessible to underserved areas.
This leg of the outreach featured 198 books, most authored by Filipino writers, showcasing the richness of local narratives and the cultural values of Philippine society. Students participated in storytelling sessions and interactive reading activities designed to spark curiosity and enhance comprehension skills.
Provincial Librarian staff said the initiative not only promotes literacy but also empowers young Capisnons by equipping them with knowledge, imagination, and essential skills for the future.
The Capiz Provincial Library, which also serves as PTCAO’s extension office, offers free reading services, research assistance, and dedicated reading spaces – an academic area for research and a cozy book nook for children’s literature and novels. Regular workshops and events further encourage literacy and critical thinking among students.
Book Nook–LGU Capiz, part of the National Book Development Board’s (NBDB) nationwide program, provides inclusive reading spaces and greater access to works by Filipino authors, promoting both culture and literature while improving literacy rates.
Through sustained efforts like Dali Mabasa Kita, the Capiz Provincial Library and Book Nook–LGU Capiz continue to bring the joy of reading to the farthest corners of the province, ensuring that no child is left without the opportunity to learn and dream./PN
