NEGROS Occidental – A 54-year-old former barangay kagawad was shot and killed on Wednesday morning, September 3, in Hacienda Cabayao, Barangay San Pablo, Manapla town.
The victim identified as alias “Pablo” sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot, according to the Manapla Municipal Police Station.
Initial investigation revealed that around 6 a.m., an unidentified male suspect came near the victim’s house pretending to look for a missing carabao. He then asked about the victim’s residence before engaging him in a brief conversation. Moments later, the suspect reportedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim multiple times hitting his head and other parts of the body, police said.
Witnesses said the suspect also entered the victim’s house and threatened his family before fleeing toward the mountainous area nearby.
Responding police officers recovered 10 empty shells and one live ammunition of a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.
As of press time, Manapla police were still investigating the incident to track down the assailant and determine the motive behind the attack./PN
