BACOLOD City – Hundreds of residents from various local government units (LGUs), including this city, availed themselves of free surgical services during a three-day medical mission at the Valladolid District Hospital in Valladolid, Negros Occidental.
The mission, held in partnership with the provincial government, LGUs, and medical teams from the Makati Medical Center, was spearheaded by the Nikki Cares Foundation Inc., led by Dominique Lopez-Benitez.
A total of 125 major and 500 minor surgical operations were performed, covering procedures for hernia, gallstones, hemorrhoids, goiter, nasal polyp, ovarian cyst, myoma, cleft lip, hysterectomy, and other cyst removals.
Prior to the operations held from September 10 to 13, patients underwent pre-screening at Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City for those from northern Negros and Bacolod, while southern residents were screened at Valladolid District Hospital.
For nearly eight years, the Nikki Cares Foundation has been extending medical assistance through its Libre nga Operasyon program, which provides free surgical services to thousands of indigent Negrenses. The initiative aims to make healthcare accessible to communities with limited resources.
