ANTIQUE – A total of 239 residents from Barangay Bugo, San Remigio, Antique received family food packs (FFPs) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in collaboration with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
The distribution was held during the “Handog ng Pangulo – Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat,” an event in celebration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s birthday last September 13.
The beneficiaries are members of Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and Project BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished), government-supported livelihood initiatives that aim to strengthen food security and provide sustainable income sources.
“Grasya man kanamun hay nakasulod kami sa amo ra nga project. Bisan gamay-gamay lang makabulig gid kanamun,” said 65-year-old beneficiary Fely Tubianosa, who shared that she and her family sell their harvested vegetables and save the income to reinvest in their livelihood.
Aside from receiving food packs, project members showcased their fresh produce and treated attendees to a boodle fight lunch.
A highlight of the activity was the formal launch of DSWD’s Mobile Kitchen Hot Meals initiative in Antique — the first in the province. The mobile kitchen is designed for rapid deployment in disaster-hit areas, ensuring evacuees receive immediate hot meals while waiting for relief goods.
“This is a one-of-a-kind project nga rugya gindara sa probinsya para may gamiton kita kung may mga evacuees sa mga areas nga hindi malab-ot ka gobyerno sa pag-supply ka pagkaon,” said PSWDO head Larry Petinglay.
The event was also attended by DSWD Disaster Response Management Division Chief Erlyn L. Garcia, DSWD Provincial Operations Office Chief Geoffrey Gabucao, San Remigio mayor Margarito Mission Jr., and Bugo punong barangay Danilo Isidoro./PN
