Gasoline pump prices up for 6th straight week; diesel, kerosene for 5th

MOTORISTS will have to tighten their belts anew this week, as fuel retailers yesterday announced another round of pump price hikes to reflect the sixth straight week of increases for gasoline, and the fifth for both diesel and kerosene.

In separate advisories, Seaoil Philippines Corp. and Shell Pilipinas Corp. said they will hike prices per liter of gasoline by P1, diesel by P0.80, and kerosene by P0.80.

The adjustments will take effect at 6 a.m. today.

Other firms have yet to make similar announcements for the week as of this writing.

The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) earlier projected upward adjustments this week, citing continued geopolitical risks due to additional US sanctions on Russian oil, the European Union’s discussion on the 19th Russian sanction package, and Ukraine’s drone strikes on 361 Russian energy sites.

Firms last week hiked prices per liter of gasoline by P0.10, diesel by P0.50, and kerosene by P0.10.

This brought year-to-date adjustments to a net increase of P13.50 per liter for gasoline, P15.35 per liter for diesel, and P3.55 per liter for kerosene as of September 16, 2025. (GMA Integrated News)
