ILOILO – This province has been named one of the Top 5 finalists in the 2025 search for the Most Business-Friendly Province in the Philippines, a recognition handed out annually by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
The province will contend with Bataan, Bulacan, Camarines Sur, and Cavite in the final round of evaluation on September 25 at the PCCI office in Taguig City, where judges will scrutinize programs and strategies fostering economic growth, investments, and sustainability.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. said the recognition reflects Iloilo’s continuing drive to strengthen its competitiveness through the MoRProGRes Iloilo development framework, which prioritizes investment promotion, infrastructure development, and streamlined business processes.
“This recognition is proof that our policies and programs are working to create a climate that attracts and supports businesses,” Defensor said.
Iloilo’s consistent performance in the competition underscores its momentum. In 2024, the province ranked second nationwide, a feat achieved through reforms such as simplified business registration, enhanced support for startups and small enterprises, and sustained improvements in public infrastructure.
Adding to the province’s showing, several municipalities also made it to the finalist list. Guimbal, Mina, and New Lucena are contenders in the Most Business-Friendly Municipalities Level 2 Category (third to sixth class municipalities), while Oton and Tigbauan are vying in the Level 1 Category (first and second class municipalities).
These citations, according to provincial officials, highlight a holistic approach to economic development—where provincial and municipal governments, together with private sector partners and communities, are aligned in creating a thriving business environment.
The final judging is expected to be closely watched by investors and business leaders, as the results could further boost Iloilo’s reputation as one of the country’s emerging economic hubs./PN
