BACOLOD City – The UNO-R Rams, Bobcats, Kap Udol, and DRFI stamped their class in their respective divisions as the inaugural Mayor Greg Gasataya 3×3 Basketball Tournament wrapped up with thrilling championship duels at the Villamonte Gymnasium and Covered Court.
The Rams led the charge for Bacolod’s emerging hoop talents after capturing the 12-Under Division crown with a decisive victory over LJS Villamonte in the finals. CBBC 1 placed third.
In the 15-Under Division, the Bobcats displayed impressive poise down the stretch to beat Tsidkenu, while GBL settled for third.
Kap Udol ruled the 18-Under Division following a hard-fought battle against LJS Villamonte, with CBL completing the podium finishers.
Rounding out the list of champions, DRFI emerged as the Open Category titlist after subduing ERZAH in a tightly contested final. The Knights of Raven finished third.
Mayor Greg Gasataya, who spearheaded the tournament, said the event underscored Bacolod’s enduring love for basketball and its role in molding disciplined, community-oriented youth.
“The players showed not just skill, but discipline and teamwork. This tournament truly reflects Bacolod’s continuing passion for sports,” Gasataya said.
The two-day event attracted hundreds of spectators who packed the venue to cheer for their favorite teams, turning the gym into a festival of grassroots basketball talent.
Organizers said the successful staging of the competition will serve as a springboard for more sports programs aimed at developing Bacolod’s young athletes and strengthening local basketball communities./PN
