BACOLOD City — The Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department (BTTMD) will implement a full road closure along Burgos Street, where the North Public Cemetery (Burgos Cemetery) is located, from October 31 to November 2 in observance of Undas 2025, officials said.
Atty. Reuben Mikhail Sabig, head of BTTMD, said the closure will affect the area from Police Station 4 to the corner of Burgos–Lopez Jaena streets.
Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) servicing the Granada, Fortune Towne, Homesite, Alangilan, and Shopping routes will be rerouted. PUJs traveling from downtown (west) to east will follow this path: Burgos right to Hilado right to LN Agustin right to Ilang-Ilang right to YLAC left to Burgos.
Vehicles traveling from Shopping to downtown will be rerouted via Lopez Jaena right to LN Agustin right to Burgos Street.
A one-way traffic scheme will also be implemented along portions of Burgos (corner BBB to Lopez Jaena) and Lopez Jaena (Burgos to LN Agustin). Private vehicles may use Megaworld as an alternative route. Traffic enforcers will be deployed to all public cemeteries and major thoroughfares to ease congestion during the holiday.
Meanwhile, Colonel Joeresty Coronica, director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said 262 police personnel will be deployed in all cemeteries and other critical areas to ensure public safety.
Coronica reminded the public that gambling, carrying deadly weapons, and firearms are strictly prohibited inside cemeteries. Security measures will be enforced throughout the observance of Undas, particularly in public cemeteries.
He also advised residents to take precautions to safeguard their homes and belongings. Safety tips include:
* Ensure all windows, doors, and gates are locked when leaving or sleeping.
* Do not leave valuables such as gadgets or wallets in plain sight.
* Install CCTV, alarm systems, or sensor lights, or inform a trusted neighbor when leaving the house.
