‘Tino’ forces postponement of 3rd CDSA Meet

ILOILO – The anticipated 3rd Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA) Meet 2025 in Maasin town has been postponed as precautionary measures were taken against the approaching Tropical Storm “Tino.”

Originally slated from November 5 to 8, the sports event — gathering student-athletes, coaches, and teachers from nine municipalities of the 3rd District — will now be held from November 18 to 21, according to host Mayor Francis Amboy.

“The safety and well-being of all participants remain our utmost priority. We encourage everyone to stay safe and remain informed through official updates from the organizing committee,” Amboy announced.

The postponement follows forecasts from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) that “Tino,” expected to intensify into a typhoon, could bring heavy rains and strong winds across Panay Island by Tuesday, November 4.

The 3rd CDSA Meet, which features various sports including basketball, volleyball, sepak takraw, football, and table tennis, was set to open at Tultugan Stadium with national volleyball star and Alas Pilipinas team captain Jia De Guzman as keynote speaker.

Participating towns include Calinog, Lambunao, Janiuay, Mina, Pototan, Cabatuan, Badiangan, Bingawan, and Maasin.

As of press time, no other congressional districts in Iloilo have announced postponements of their respective meets due to the approaching storm.

The 4th District congressional meet in Barotac Nuevo, however, had already commenced on October 10./PN
