ILOILO – An early morning fire engulfed a sari-sari store and a junk shop in Purok Milagrosa, Barangay Inangayan, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo on Monday, November 3.
Fire Officer 2 Hermoso Oresco Jr. of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Sta. Barbara, said the fire broke out around 3 a.m. at a store of family Libresa outside their house and quickly spread to an adjacent junk shop.
An estimated P20,000 worth of properties were destroyed, authorities said.
As of this writing, arson investigators were still investigating the cause of the blaze.
Meanwhile, Oresco, in a local radio interview, said they had difficulty penetrating the area due to hanging electric wires.
The BFP-Sta. Barbara also denied there was a delay in the response to a fire. They said they received a fire call at 3:46 p.m. and arrived at the area by 3:50 p.m./PN
