STEPHEN Curry erupted for 46 points to lead Golden State Warriors to a 125-120 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night (Thursday in the Philippines) at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Curry powered Golden State’s comeback with 29 points in the second half, including 22 in a blistering third quarter where he shot 5-of-9 from long range and hit all nine of his free throws.
His fourth three-pointer of the period gave the Warriors a 74-73 advantage — their first lead since early in the game — as they outscored San Antonio 76-64 across the final two quarters.
Jimmy Butler added 28 points, eight assists, six rebounds, and three steals, and Moses Moody chipped in 19 points for the Warriors, who entered the game having dropped three of their last four for a 7-6 mark.
Despite the loss, Victor Wembanyama turned in another standout performance with 31 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists, his fourth career triple-double and second in as many games.
Stephon Castle also posted a triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, making the pair the first Spurs teammates ever to record triple-doubles in the same contest. They dropped to an 8-3 win-loss slate.
Meanwhile, Detroit Pistons (10-2), even with the absence of key starters Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, and Ausar Thompson, still scored a 124-113 victory over Chicago Bulls (6-5).
Paul Reed stepped up offensively for the Pistons with 28 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, and four steals, Duncan Robinson added 23 markers, while Daniss Jenkins and Caris LeVert tallied 18 and 17 markers, respectively.
Cleveland Cavaliers (8-4), also with starters Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Darius Garland not playing, cruised to a dominant 130-116 victory over Miami Heat (7-5).
Jarrett Allen tallied a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds to banner the Cavs, DeAndre Hunter added 21 markers, while Craig Porter Jr., Lonzo Ball, and Tyrese Proctor had 19, 15, and 12 points, respectively.
In other results, Houston Rockets prevailed over Washington Wizards, 135-112; Phoenix Suns took down Dallas Mavericks, 123-114; Orlando Magic edged New York Knicks, 124-107; and Boston Celtics mauled Memphis Grizzlies, 131-95./PN
