ILOILO – A high-value individual (HVI) was arrested and more than 181 grams of suspected shabu were confiscated during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion Norte, Balasan, Iloilo, at around 8:40 p.m. on November 13.
The 43-year-old alias “Nyor,” single, and a resident of the barangay, was apprehended after handing over a small heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for marked money. Additional items recovered from the operation included eight more sachets of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.
Nyor is now under police custody pending the filing of charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Conviction under these provisions carries penalties ranging from life imprisonment to death and fines between P500,000 and P10 million.
Police Briagdier General Josefino D. Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6, lauded the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, noting that the arrest reflects the regional police’s strong stance against illegal drugs.
