CHAVIT Singson has once again denied ever having a “special relationship” with Jillian Ward, saying he never had met the actress, albeit joking that he hoped the rumors were true.
Singson and Ward were the target of rumors last October, with the former Ilocos Sur governor being branded as her “sugar daddy” and benefactor of her lifestyle. Ward tearfully dispelled the allegation in the same month, saying it hurt her.
The former politician, who denied the rumors last October as well, was again asked about his ties to Ward in an episode of “The Men’s Room” podcast on Saturday, Dec. 27.
“Sa awa ng Diyos, hindi pa,” Singson said when asked if he ever met Ward at some point.
“Pero sana magkakilala [kami] para pareho naming ide-deny to [make] everything [clear]. Kasi nagde-deny ako, nagde-deny siya, hindi magkaintindihan. Kailangang mag-meet to [deny] everything,” he continued.
Stanley Chi, one of the podcast’s hosts, then asked Singson what he wanted to say to Ward, to which the latter replied jokingly: “Um, sana nga maging totoo.”
Singson earlier made headlines after he confirmed that he was in discussion with the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) president Paula Shugart and former vice president Shawn McClain to discuss the possibility of buying out the pageant organization from its current owners, Raul Rocha and Anne Jakrajutatip.
“Sinabi ko I’m interested in buying. Kinausap ko ‘yung mga dating officials ng Miss Universe. They will be arriving here next month after the holidays. Sila ang magha-handle kasi sila ang sanay diyan,” he said, adding that he planned to appoint Shugart to a new role.
Singson also said he’s willing to shell out more money “if the price is right,” explaining that buying out the MUO is a move toward boosting the country’s tourism.
“Willing akong malugi for the country. Maski malugi ng $1 million or $2 million. Kasi bagsak lahat, tourism, foreign investment, so mahirap… Kukunin namin [ang MUO] para pagandahin ang Pilipinas. Maski malugi kami, basta maganda,” he said. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
