CAPIZ – A 42-year-old jobless man with a previous illegal drug case was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Dumulog, Roxas City.
Joint operatives of the Roxas City Police Station, the Capiz Police Provincial Office’s Intelligence Unit, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Capiz collared alias “Jeric,” a resident of the city, at around 10:09 p.m. on January 8.
The suspect yielded five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 350 grams, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.
Police said Jeric was previously charged of the same offense but was able to avail himself of a plea bargaining agreement.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station. He will be charged for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of the Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
These charges carry heavy penalties, potentially including life imprisonment and fines ranging from P500,000 to P10,000,000, highlighting the serious nature of drug offenses and the authorities’ commitment to enforcing the law./PN
