MANILA — Malacañang on Monday dismissed talk of an imminent Cabinet reshuffle, with Executive Secretary Ralph Recto saying there are no plans for a reorganization under President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. at this time.
“At present, there is no impending Cabinet shake-up. Speculation about looming revamp does not serve any constructive purpose for the Government or the Filipino people,” Recto said in a statement.
Recto said Cabinet officials continue to serve at the President’s discretion, noting that their performance is subject to regular assessment by the Office of the President. He stressed that government officials should remain focused on their duties amid persistent rumors of leadership changes.
“Everyone should remain focused on their jobs for the good of our people,” he added.
Recto’s statement followed reports suggesting possible changes in several key agencies, including the Departments of Education, Transportation, Tourism, and Public Works and Highways.
In May 2025, Marcos asked Cabinet secretaries to submit courtesy resignations as part of what he described as a recalibration of the administration after the midterm elections. This was followed by further leadership changes in November, which included the resignations of then Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, former Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, and Presidential Legislative Liaison Office head Adrian Bersamin.
Despite those earlier adjustments, Recto said no similar move is being considered at present, urging both officials and the public to set aside speculation and focus on governance./PN
