AKLAN – After years of hiding, a 48-year-old laborer classified as the fourth most wanted person in Guimaras was arrested on Monday, January 12, at the Caticlan Jetty Port in Malay, Aklan.
The suspect was identified as alias “Jon”, married, and a resident of Barangay II, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental but temporarily residing in Calumpit, Bulacan.
The operation was carried out at around 10:30 a.m. by the Guimaras Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit in coordination with the Nueva Valencia Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Malay MPS, following a tip from a concerned citizen that the suspect was traveling back to Bulacan.
Authorities said the Regional Trial Court, Sixth Judicial Region Branch 65 in Jordan, Guimaras had issued on August 16, 2021 a warrant of arrest against the suspects for direct assault with murder (Article 148, Revised Penal Code) with no bail recommended, and direct assault with attempted murder (Article 148, Revised Penal Code) with a recommended bail of P120,000.
The suspect was initially brought to Caticlan MPS for booking and documentation before he was transported to the Nueva Valencia MPS in Barangay Poblacion, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6, lauded the operating units for the arrest.
“The successful arrest of a provincial-level most wanted person highlights the effectiveness of our intelligence-driven operations and the strong coordination among our police units. We remain steadfast in our commitment to pursue all wanted individuals and ensure that justice is served, regardless of time or location,” said Ligan./PN
