MANILA — From rebuilding project to emerging contender, the Nxled Chameleons have made their boldest statement yet, unveiling a sweeping roster overhaul highlighted by Ilongga middle blockers Abigail Maraño and Aduke Ogunsanya as the club arms for a serious run in the 2026 season of the Premier Volleyball League.
Once tagged as a perennial cellar-dweller, Nxled underscored its competitive ambitions by announcing a string of acquisitions through separate social media releases. Leading the early reveals were Maraño and Ogunsanya, alongside Negrense standout Jonah Sabete, Djanel Cheng, and Ranya Musa.
Maraño is expected to add experience and stability to the Chameleons’ middle rotation, which also features Krich Macaslang, May Ann Nique, Jeycel Delos Reyes, Razel Aldea, Ogunsanya, and Musa.
Nxled’s aggressive offseason build-up gained further traction with the addition of three-time PVL Most Valuable Player Brooke Van Sickle, following Petro Gazz’s decision to take a leave of absence from league play.
Van Sickle will be joined by a familiar championship core from the former Angels, including two-time league MVP Myla Pablo, two-time Finals MVP MarJana “MJ” Phillips, and setter Julyana Tolentino.
The Chameleons also secured the services of former Petro Gazz players Shiela “Bang” Pineda, AA Adolfo, and Jellie Tempiatura, bolstering their depth across multiple positions. In total, Nxled has signed 14 new players, including setter Joyme Cagande from Chery Tiggo.
These additions will integrate with an existing Nxled core led by Lyann de Guzman, Chiara Permentilla, Lucille Almonte, Jovelyn Fernandez, and EJ Laure as the team gears up for the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference, set to open on January 31.
With a roster now laden with MVP credentials, Finals experience, and veteran leadership, Nxled is no longer talking about development — it is positioning itself squarely in the conversation for PVL contention./PN
