ILOILO City — The city government is rolling out a three-day Calle Real Night Market from February 13 to 15, transforming the city’s historic downtown strip into a Valentine-season hub of food, music, and local enterprise that is expected to draw around 18,000 visitors.

The Valentine’s-themed night market will feature at least 60 food and non-food vendors, live performances by local artists, and themed attractions as Calle Real is closed to traffic from Guanco Street to Iloilo Sunburst Park to give way to the festivities.

Leny Ledesma, executive assistant for special projects, said the event is designed to blend romance, culture, and livelihood support for local entrepreneurs.

“This year’s celebration promises to be truly special, featuring not only a wide variety of delicious food that showcases our region’s culinary delights but also contributing to the festive atmosphere of romance and community,” Ledesma said.

The market will offer Ilonggo dishes, street food staples, sweet treats, handmade crafts, flowers, photo booths, souvenirs, and grilling stations, creating what city officials described as a relaxed, stroll-friendly Valentine destination.

Local musicians, dancers, and artists will also take center stage throughout the three-day event.

“We aimed to create a vibrant ambiance that celebrates our culture while providing local artists with the opportunity to showcase their talents and connect with the community,” Ledesma added.

This year’s theme, “Iloilo City Blooms,” highlights the city’s recognition as an ASEAN Clean Tourist City and underscores its push for sustainable tourism, environmental cleanliness, and the promotion of local businesses.

City organizers said up to 100 stalls will be installed across the night market area. To keep prices affordable, the city coordinated closely with vendors, setting a uniform rental fee of P₱4,500 per food stall.

The Calle Real Night Market is expected to serve not only as a Valentine attraction but also as a boost for small businesses and creatives, reinforcing Iloilo City’s image as a lively, people-centered urban destination during the season of love./PN
