ILOILO City – Authorities arrested a 26-year-old Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman on February 20, after he was caught with over P2,000,000 worth of illegal drugs in Barangay Ardemil, Sara, Iloilo.
Police Captain Theodore Roosevelt Saboy of the Sara Municipal Police Station (MPS) identified the suspect as alias “Mar,” 26, SK chairman of the town’s Barangay Del Castillo.
The operation was carried out by joint operatives of the Sara MPS and the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC).
Recovered from the suspect were 300 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P2,040,000 and 10 grams of marijuana worth P1,000, and buy-bust money.
Police said the suspect, classified as a high-value individual, was under surveillance for nine months before the drug bust.
“It took us nine months of monitoring because he is too elusive,” said Saboy, adding that based on intelligence reports, the suspect sourced his illegal drug supply from Capiz.
The suspect was detained at Sara MPS, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, lauded his men for their efforts to seize huge volume of illegal drugs.
He also extended his appreciation to the Ilonggo community for the steadfast support and cooperation.
“Ginadayaw ko gid ang kapisan kag dedikasyon sang Sara MPS sa ila madilag-on nga operasyon kontra ilegal nga droga kag nagresulta sa pagkadakop sa high-value target nga isa ka incumbent SK Chairman. Ang ini nga madinalag-on nga operasyon isa ka pamatood sang aton seryoso nga commitment nga papason ang ilegal nga droga sa aton mga komunidad, bisan ano pa ang posisyon sang suspek,” Razalan said./PN
