MANILA — Malacañang on Saturday forcefully debunked viral claims that President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. had been hospitalized, branding the reports as false and warning that those behind fabricated medical documents circulating online now face legal action.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro assured the public that the Chief Executive remains in good health and continues to perform his duties, even as social media posts claimed he had been confined at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City and was battling serious illnesses, including colon cancer.
“The President was in a private meeting with PMS this morning. He is well, healthy and working even on a Saturday,” Castro said in a message to reporters.
The Palace clarification came after unverified reports and purported medical records spread online, fueling speculation about Marcos’ health condition. Authorities have since flagged the circulating documents as fabricated.
The National Bureau of Investigation has initiated legal action against individuals responsible for spreading what officials described as false information.
Malacañang reiterated that the 68-year-old President remains physically fit to carry out his responsibilities and continues to attend official engagements.
Marcos had previously dealt with diverticulitis, a condition affecting the digestive tract, but has since recovered and resumed his normal schedule. Palace officials have repeatedly dismissed claims suggesting any deterioration in his health./PN
