CAPIZ – The Roxas City Government has released subsidy allowances to members of the city’s delegation competing in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet 2026 ahead of their departure for the regional competition in Passi City.
According to Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, a total of 474 athletes and 90 coaches from Roxas City received financial assistance from the city government as part of its support for the delegation.
Each athlete received P9,510, while coaches were given P9,160 as subsidy allowance.
Dadivas said the financial assistance was released in advance before the delegation’s scheduled travel to Passi City on March 14 and ahead of the official opening of the WVRAA meet on March 17.
The mayor noted that the amount is higher compared to what athletes and coaches received in previous years.
He said the early release of the subsidy aims to motivate the city’s athletes as they represent Roxas City in the regional competition.
“We want our athletes to feel the full support of the city government so they will be more determined to win, especially since they carry the name and pride of Roxas City,” Dadivas said.
The mayor also highlighted that this year marks the first time Roxas City will send its own official delegation to the WVRAA meet.
The city government hopes the financial assistance will help cover the athletes’ needs during the competition and encourage them to perform well in representing the city at the regional sporting event./PN
