ILOILO City — Voter registration and all frontline election services will be unavailable every Monday of April in Western Visayas, as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) implements a nationwide work-from-home arrangement in support of the government’s energy conservation policy.
Comelec Regional Office 6 announced that there will be no voter registration, voter certification, and other transactions on April 6, 13, 20, and 27, temporarily limiting public access to election-related services during those dates.
“Pursuant to Comelec Minute Resolution no. 26-0245, a work-from-home arrangement shall be adopted for all Main and Field Offices of the Commission every Monday, effective April 6, 2026 until April 27, 2026, in accordance withe the prescribes five-day, forty-hour work week and existing Civil Service rules and regulations,” part of the Comelec Regional Office 6 advisory read.
Officials clarified that regular operations will continue from Tuesday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and urged the public to schedule their transactions accordingly.
In Iloilo City, the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) has also cancelled all satellite voter registration activities set on Mondays, including those scheduled at Atrium Mall (April 6), Mary Mart Mall (April 13), and Pavillon, San Lorenzo Subdivision in La Paz (April 27).
Despite the temporary suspension, voter registration activity remains robust. The OEO-Iloilo City reported processing 11,829 applications from January 5 to March 31, 2026. These include new registrations, transfers within the city, transfers from other municipalities or cities, transfers from foreign posts to local, reactivation of records, correction of entries, and change of civil status.
These applications are set to be evaluated by the Election Registration Board (ERB) during its scheduled hearing on April 21, 2026. The notice of hearing and list of applicants were posted on March 31, 2026 on the OEO-Iloilo City bulletin board, in compliance with Comelec Resolution No. 11177.
COMELEC also reminded the public that voter registration activities will be suspended during the ERB hearing, pursuant to its minute resolution on the verification of the National List of Registered Voters (NLRV) by the Centralized Verification and Operations Center (CVOC)./PN
