ILOILO City — Three individuals were arrested in an anti-drug operation at Zone 1, Barangay Baldoza, La Paz district.
The suspects were identified as alias “Dar,” his 41-year-old brother alias “Nimrod,” and alias “Ken,” 32, all residents of the same barangay.
Authorities said the bust took place at 12:55 a.m. on May 7 after a police asset successfully transacted with the two brothers. During the arrest, Ken was caught in the act of purchasing illegal drugs from the siblings.
Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), revealed that the brothers had been under surveillance for three weeks prior to the sting.
“Our men conducted three weeks of surveillance against the suspects following reports that they are engaged in illegal drug transactions within La Paz,” Parilla said.
Recovered from the suspects were approximately 60 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P408,000.
Police records further disclosed that Ken is a repeat offender with a pending drug-related case and was previously released on bail.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), commended the ICPO for the successful operation and issued a stern warning to the public regarding the dangers of narcotics.
“Illegal drugs destroy lives, break families, and ruin the future of those involved. We urge everyone to avoid any involvement in illegal drug activities and instead become partners of the police in building safe and peaceful communities,” Ligan stated.
