DSWD starts P5,000 cash aid payout today for jeepney drivers in Western Visayas

ILOILO City — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will begin distributing P5,000 cash relief assistance to validated public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers across Western Visayas today, May 11, as part of government efforts to cushion the impact of rising fuel and living costs on the transport sector.

The payout covers jeepney drivers from Iloilo and Guimaras on the first day, with distributions in Capiz and Aklan scheduled on May 12, according to an announcement posted by DSWD Region 6 on its official Facebook page Sunday.

“Ang opisyal na listahan ng mga benepisyaryo na jeepney drivers ay mula sa validated data na isinumite ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB),” part of the announcement stated.

DSWD-6 reminded beneficiaries to bring the following requirements when claiming the assistance:

* Original valid driver’s license and one photocopy

* Ensure that the name on the license matches the official beneficiary list

The agency also advised drivers whose names are not included in the payout list to proceed to designated help desks for verification and assistance.

For May 11, payouts in Guimaras will cover drivers from Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag. Distribution will be held at the GTIC Function Hall at the Capitol Compound in San Miguel, Jordan, starting 8 a.m.

In Iloilo province, drivers from Mina, Pototan, Anilao, Banate, Barotac Nuevo, Passi City, Dingle, Dueñas, Dumangas, and San Enrique are scheduled to receive aid at the Tamasak Arena in Barotac Nuevo beginning 8 a.m.

Another payout site at Oton National High School in Oton will serve beneficiaries from Guimbal, Igbaras, Miag-ao, Oton, San Joaquin, Tigbauan, and Tubungan, also starting 8 a.m.

For May 12, DSWD-6 will distribute aid to drivers in Aklan towns including Altavas, Balete, Banga, Batan, Kalibo, Madalag, New Washington, Buruanga, Ibajay, Lezo, Makato, Malay, Malinao, Nabas, Numancia, and Tangalan at the ABL Sports Complex in Kalibo beginning 8 a.m.

In Capiz, beneficiaries from Maayon, Panay, Panit-an, Roxas City, Cuartero, Dao, Dumalag, Dumarao, Ivisan, Jamindan, Mambusao, Sapi-an, Sigma, and Tapaz will receive assistance at Robinsons Place Roxas starting 11 a.m.

DSWD-6 advised jeepney drivers from cities and municipalities not yet included in the schedule to wait for further announcements through the agency’s official Facebook page, DSWD Western Visayas./PN
