ILOILO — To strengthen fire prevention, protection, and emergency response efforts across this province, the Iloilo Provincial Government (IPG) has launched a provincewide search to identify and reward the best-performing city and municipal fire stations.
The “Search for the Most Outstanding City/Municipal Fire Stations” was initiated by the Iloilo Provincial Government Technical Working Group (TWG), which convened on Monday, May 25, to craft the guidelines and criteria for the competition.
The initiative, anchored on Provincial Ordinance No. 2025-335, aims to recognize exemplary local fire stations and encourage innovation in fire safety programs and emergency operations.
Provincial officials said the competition was “designed to evaluate local fire stations and incentivize their innovative approaches on fire prevention, protection, and suppression leading to safer communities.”
Participating fire stations will be evaluated based on operational effectiveness, administrative capability, community engagement, and innovation and best practices.
The contest will have two categories.
Category A will include Passi City and first-class municipalities, while Category B will cover second- to fourth-class municipalities.
For Category A, the champion will receive P250,000, while the first and second runners-up will get P200,000 and P150,000, respectively.
In Category B, the champion will receive P200,000, the first runner-up P150,000, and the second runner-up P100,000.
The TWG is composed of representatives from the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-Iloilo), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-Iloilo), Iloilo Police Provincial Office, Public Information and Community Affairs Office, Liga ng mga Barangay Iloilo, League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Iloilo, Barangay Tanod Federation Iloilo, Federation of Iloilo Fire Brigade, and a Civil Society Organization accredited by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan./PN
