ILOILO — The University of the Philippines Visayas School of Technology (UPV SOTECH) based in Miag-ao, Iloilo regained its position as one of the country’s top-performing schools in the May 2026 Chemical Engineers Licensure Examination after all 10 of its examinees passed the board exam, posting a perfect 100-percent passing rate.
Results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) showed that UPV SOTECH tied for the Rank 1 spot among top-performing schools alongside the University of the Philippines Los Baños, De La Salle University-Manila, and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
The computer-based licensure examination was conducted from May 20 to 22, 2026.
The newly registered chemical engineers from UPV SOTECH are Myrtle Joash T. Bacaling, Kristele Angeline G. Bilan, Wilson Lloyd C. Buco, Jenaiza V. Cawaling, Erwin P. Esperanza, Acer Paul G. Galon, Kristienne Marie Jyka D. Garcia, Danny Jr. D. Honorio, Ruselle Gynn B. Lacea, and Renan O. Tejano.
The latest achievement further cemented UPV SOTECH’s reputation as one of the country’s leading engineering institutions and underscored its strong performance in the Chemical Engineers Licensure Examination through the years.
The university said the accomplishment reflected its “continuing commitment to academic excellence and quality engineering education.”
It also highlights the dedication of the faculty, staff, and students in upholding the standards of the Chemical Engineering program and producing graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed in the profession, it added in a news release.
UPV SOTECH noted that its consistent performance in the licensure examination continues to strengthen its mission of developing “competent, innovative, and socially responsive chemical engineers who can contribute to national and global development.”
