CAPIZ – The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office (SDO) of Roxas City, in partnership with the city government, is set to construct and rehabilitate 100 classrooms to improve the quality of education and address the persistent shortage of learning spaces in public schools.
Adonis Mosquera, officer-in-charge schools division superintendent of DepEd Roxas City, said the project includes the construction of 50 new classrooms and the renovation of 50 existing classrooms.
The initiative aims not only to provide additional learning spaces but also to upgrade existing facilities to better meet the needs of students and teachers.
According to the SDO, the newly constructed classrooms will be distributed among eight schools, namely Milibili National High School, President Manuel A. Roxas Memorial School–SPED, Culasi Elementary School, Don Ynocencio A. Del Rosario National High School, Lawaan Integrated School, Inzo Arnaldo Village Integrated School, President Manuel A. Roxas Memorial School–South, and Don Juan Celino Integrated School.
Education officials said the schools were selected based on their classroom requirements and the need to ensure equitable access to quality education.
Meanwhile, 50 classrooms in 11 schools will undergo renovation and repair to improve learning conditions and ensure safer, more conducive environments for students.
Among the schools identified for rehabilitation are Sofronio A. Cordovero Integrated School, Anatolia A. Arcenas Memorial School, Plaridel West Elementary School, and Tanque National High School.
The upgrades will include structural improvements and the installation of facilities and amenities needed to support modern teaching and learning.
To facilitate the project’s implementation, Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and DepEd officials recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), formalizing the partnership between the local government and the education sector.
Dadivas said the agreement reflects the city government’s commitment to providing adequate funding and ensuring the efficient implementation of the classroom construction and rehabilitation program.
“This project marks a significant step in our efforts to address classroom shortages and ensure that every child has a safe, comfortable, and conducive environment for learning,” Dadivas said.
“Through this initiative, we are investing in the future of our children and strengthening an educational system that can meet the needs of our growing population,” he added.
