ILOILO — Residents of four local government units (LGUs) in Iloilo Province can now enjoy faster and more affordable access to essential outpatient medicines after their Primary Care Facilities secured accreditation under the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.’s (PhilHealth) Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) Package.
The newly accredited LGUs are the municipalities of Sara, Concepcion and Oton, and the component city of Passi, marking another milestone in the province’s drive to strengthen primary healthcare services and expand access to quality medical treatment.
Under the PhilHealth GAMOT Package, eligible PhilHealth members and their qualified dependents may obtain essential outpatient medicines for various chronic and acute illnesses through accredited Primary Care Facilities.
The program aims to improve treatment compliance, reduce the risk of complications, and promote healthier communities.
According to the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO), the accreditation of the four LGUs represents another significant step toward ensuring that more Ilonggos have access to quality, affordable and essential outpatient medicines through the PhilHealth Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) Package.
The IPHO also expressed hope that the achievement would encourage more local government units across Iloilo Province to pursue accreditation as PhilHealth GAMOT Primary Care Facilities, further expanding healthcare access for residents./PN
