
BACOLOD City — A 27-year-old man who had been reported missing for a week was found dead in an advanced state of decomposition in Purok Saging, Barangay Canturay, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday morning, July 8.
A report from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) said the victim, a single and unemployed resident of Barangay Canturay, was discovered at around 10:15 a.m.
The incident was reported to the Sipalay Component City Police Station (CCPS) at about 11:20 a.m. by Barangay Captain Rodolfo Caldito.
Police personnel led by Lt. Justin R. Abawan, together with the investigator-on-case, immediately proceeded to the area to verify the report and conduct an initial investigation.
According to police, the victim’s father told investigators that his son had been suffering from epilepsy for the past 20 years and had been missing from their home for seven days before his body was found.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) processed the scene and examined the remains to help determine the cause of death.
Police said no evidence indicating foul play was recovered from the scene, although authorities have yet to establish the exact cause of death.
