ILOILO — The Iloilo Provincial Government, five municipalities and the Guimbal District Jail have been recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) as National Healthy Workplace Awardees for 2026, highlighting the province’s programs creating healthier, safer and more employee-friendly workplaces.
The recognition places the Iloilo Provincial Government among institutions nationwide that have successfully implemented workplace schemes promoting occupational safety, mental health, substance use prevention and overall employee well-being.
“The Iloilo Provincial Health Office is incredibly proud,” the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO), headed by Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, said in a statement.
Joining the provincial government as awardees are the municipalities of Alimodian, New Lucena, Concepcion, Tubungan and Lambunao, along with the Guimbal District Jail.
The 2026 Healthy Workplace National Award recognizes institutions, local government units and health facilities that exemplify the national policy framework on healthy workplaces by fostering safe working environments, supporting mental health initiatives, preventing substance abuse and promoting the overall well-being of employees.
“Thank you for leading by example and proving that investing in the health and well-being of our workforce builds a stronger, healthier, and more resilient Province of Iloilo,” the IPHO stated.
The recognition underscores the growing emphasis on workplace wellness as a key component of effective public service and organizational excellence.
Other awardees from Western Visayas included several health facilities and government offices in Aklan, namely the Tangalan Rural Health Unit, Malinao Primary Care Facility, Pacita-Calizo-Cortes Health Center, Numancia Primary Care Facility, Nabas Primary Care Facility, Banga Primary Care Facility, New Washington Primary Care Facility, Batan Health Center and Birthing Facility, Madalag Primary Care Facility, the Municipal Government of Lezo and the Aklan Provincial Health Office.
In Antique, the Municipality of Bugasong, the Antique DOH Office and the Hamtic Municipal Police Station were also recognized, while Jamindan Primary Care Facility in Capiz and Healthway Qualimed Hospital Iloilo in Iloilo City likewise received the national distinction./PN
