ILOILO CITY — GCash on Thursday, July 30, launched its Wais Tindera Caravan in Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo, aiming to equip micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly sari-sari store owners, with financial literacy, responsible borrowing practices and digital business skills.

The programme introduced participants to digital financial services, including GCash Pera Outlet, digital payments and access to formal financing through Fuse Financing, as part of efforts to help small businesses adapt to an increasingly cashless economy.
Organisers said the initiative also supports the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ goal of expanding financial inclusion among grassroots entrepreneurs.
Barangay Captain Renante G. Tubola welcomed the initiative, saying digital financial services have become increasingly important for residents and small business owners.

“GCash importante gid ini sa aton nga mga pumuluyo, especially kun ikaw negosyante ukon gusto magnegosyo. Mas mapadasig ang pagbayad sang bills pareho sang kuryente, telepono kag load, kag mas mahapos man ang pagpadala sang kwarta sa pamilya nga yara sa malayo. Dako gid ini nga bulig sa adlaw-adlaw nga pangabuhi sang aton mga pumuluyo,” Tubola said.
The caravan also featured financial education sessions, games and prizes while encouraging entrepreneurs to adopt digital payment systems and formal financial services.

According to GCash, MSMEs account for 99.5 percent of businesses in the country but many continue to face challenges in accessing financing and digital tools, prompting the company to strengthen programmes that support sustainable business growth through financial education and responsible lending.
