VICTORIAS City — Creamline Cool Smashers capped their six-week PVL On Tour campaign in dominant fashion, sweeping Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-21, 25-16, 25-21, on Saturday night at the Victorias City Coliseum in Negros Occidental.

Led by Player of the Game Alyssa Valdez, the Cool Smashers weathered repeated attempts by the Highrisers to mount a comeback before completing the straight-set victory and closing their preseason tour on a high note.

Valdez spearheaded Creamline with 10 points as the Cool Smashers displayed their depth and balanced attack throughout the match.

“We’re just happy to win,” Valdez said. “It’s the motivation and inspiration to keep improving and stay in shape for our fans from different parts of the country.”

Jema Galanza added seven points, while Santiago, Jeanette Panaga and Diana Carlos chipped in six points apiece for Creamline.

Jean Asis and Erika Deloria paced Galeries Tower with six points each. Alyssa Bertolano finished with five, while Shola Alvarez and Roselle Baliton contributed four apiece.

Meanwhile, Farm Fresh Foxies survived a five-set battle against Capital1 Solar Spikers, 20-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-12, 15-10, to end their provincial campaign with a 2-1 record.

After dropping the third set, Farm Fresh responded emphatically in the fourth behind a strong all-around effort from Victonara Galang, whose attacks, blocks and service aces helped the Foxies build a commanding 16-6 advantage.

The Foxies carried that momentum into the deciding fifth set and held off the Solar Spikers to secure the victory in the first five-set match of this year’s On Tour.

Galang finished with 14 points and said her focus was simply to contribute wherever the team needed her.

“Yun mindset lang is maka contribute sa team, gagawin ko kugg ano yung makakaya ko para makapag impact sa team, and thankful naman at nanalo kami,” Galang said./PN
