SHIRLEY Kuan, the former talent manager of Bea Alonzo, said the actress’ contract with GMA is set to end after she finishes filming her upcoming political thriller series “Whispers from Heaven.”
Kuan, who resigned as Alonzo’s manager last Aug. 11, disclosed this during a press conference on Monday, Aug. 24, where she spoke about the alleged “attacks” that prompted her to end her management ties with the actress.
At the event, Kuan was asked if Alonzo would stay with the Kapuso network, to which the former responded, “This (‘Whispers from Heaven’) is her last. When she finishes her taping — I think days na lang, mga 10 to 12, I’m not sure — then her contract ends.”
Kuan noted that there have been no talks yet for the actress’ contract renewal.
“I told them before the start of this new soap, ang sabi ko sa GMA, ‘Please, let’s do a good show for Bea because this may be her last soap in a very, very long time.’ So, obviously, there’s no renewal. We’re not asking or expecting for that,” Kuan said.
“Ang bilin ko lang is to do a good show kasi baka matagal pa bago masundan ito — kung masusundan pa. Because I’m not gonna push her to do this show. I want her to have a family. I want her to settle down,” the talent manager said.
During the press conference, Kuan dismissed allegations that she was the reason why Alonzo’s Spain wedding to businessman Vincent Co was canceled. She also slammed claims that Alonzo was supposedly her “cash cow.”
“I find that very insulting. Parang tingin nila sa akin pulubi, na parang pag wala na si Bea sa akin magugutom na ako,” Kuan said. “I just want to make this clear. Bea did not make me rich, nor will she make me poor. So stop calling her my cash cow.”
