ILOILO City – Rainy weather is expected to linger across much of Western Visayas until Monday, Aug. 31, with stronger southwest winds also likely to keep coastal waters moderate to rough.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its five-day regional outlook issued at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, projected recurring rains and thunderstorms in Iloilo, Guimaras, Aklan and Antique through the weekend.
In Iloilo, daytime temperatures could reach 32 degrees Celsius on Thursday before hovering at around 31 degrees from Friday to Monday. Nighttime temperatures could fall to about 25 degrees.
Neighboring Guimaras faces a similar stretch of unsettled weather, with temperatures generally ranging from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius beginning Friday.
Aklan and Antique are also likely to have frequent rains or thunderstorms. PAGASA expects moderate to strong winds from the southwest in these provinces, while surrounding seas may become moderate to rough.
Capiz could have relatively better weather on Thursday, with temperatures reaching as high as 34 degrees Celsius. Wetter conditions, however, are expected from Friday onward, with rain showers and thunderstorms likely to continue until Monday.
Negros Occidental is likewise forecast to experience intermittent rains during the five-day period. Temperatures there may range from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, accompanied by moderate to strong southwesterly winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.
Elsewhere in the Visayas, Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor could experience a mix of cloudy periods, sunshine and occasional rain showers or thunderstorms.
Warmer conditions are possible in Eastern Visayas. Temperatures in Samar could climb to 36 degrees Celsius, while Eastern Samar may reach 35 degrees.
The prevailing southwest winds are expected to remain a concern for sea travel in several areas, particularly where PAGASA forecasts moderate to rough waters.
Palawan and Occidental Mindoro are also expected to experience generally rainy conditions during the outlook period, with southwest winds affecting their coastal areas.
