Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Legend of the Seas will arrive in Boracay Island on Sept. 24.

ILOILO City – Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Legend of the Seas, carrying approximately 2,700 Chinese passengers and crew, will arrive in Boracay Island on Sept. 24.

Legend of the Seas is the first cruise ship to arrive in the island under President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
Maximum security will be strictly implemented as most of the passengers and crew will have an onshore tour. Welcome leis, tarpaulins, brochures, Ati-Atihan reception performance, rondalla send-off performance and personnel will be provided by the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6 during the visit.

Director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas assures that the DOT, local government of Malay, Aklan, Philippine Coastguard, Philippine National Police, MARINA, Boracay Island Hopping Association, Southwest Tours and the Jetty Port personnel will work together to offer the best services to the visitors.

“Welcome tarpaulins with Chinese translations and Ati-Atihan performers will greet passengers upon arrival at Cagban Jetty Port while rondalla will play during send-off. Our aim is to leave an impression that Western Visayas is a place of warm-welcoming people and a safe haven for tourists,” Catalbas noted.

About 50 to 80 vehicles will be utilized to transport the guests from Cagban Jetty Port to their drop-off point while 15 big boats will be utilized to accommodate about 500 passengers who will go island-hopping. A special re-routing system will be formulated for a more organized and safe transfer of tourists.
Catalbas ensured that the island will have enough vehicles for visitors and mainstream tourists coming to Boracay during cruise ship arrivals.
Two more cruise ship arrivals are expected in Boracay in October and November this year./PN
