BACOLOD City – Gov. Roel Degamo ordered the new leader of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo) to prioritize the war on drugs.
Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, Norppo officer-in-charge, made a courtesy call at Degamo’s office in Dumaguete City on Tuesday.
Biñas replaced Senior Superintendent Nestor Tiempo, who was relieved on Sept. 29 after serving Norppo for more than two months.
According to Degamo, he made it clear with Biñas that he wants to eliminate illegal drugs and everyone engaged in the trade, regardless of social status.
Degamo directed the police official to go after a “congressman” allegedly involved in drug trafficking. He refused to name names.
He promised the Norppo that his administration will provide them all the support they need to perform their duties and responsibilities effectively.
After visiting the governor, Biñas met with his staff for a briefing on the peace and order situation in Negros Oriental.
Soon he will call for a command conference with police stations chiefs and unit heads for more specific concerns, Biñas said.
Biñas officially assumed the post on Monday.
Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, Police Regional Office 18 (PRO-18) director, also ordered him to focus on Oplan Double Barrel.
Prior to his present assignment, Biñas was chief of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division of the PRO-7./PN
