KALIBO, Aklan – A 10-year-old disk jockey (DJ) will sure give her older competitors a run for their money.
Lhaarney Grace Gregorio made it to the finals of the DJ Battle, a side event of the opening salvo for the Ati-Atihan Festival, on Oct. 22.
Gregorio — the lone female and the youngest competitor, clad in white T-shirt and black bull cap — outclassed older DJs from Boracay Island and other parts of Aklan during the elimination on Oct. 14.
Other aspirants — DJ Kenth, DJ Joshua, DJ Chris Fader, Naughty Boi, DJ Lou Bryan, DJ RJ, Clusta, and DJ Zee — showed off their music-mixing skills and creativity before a capacity crowd on Mabini Street.
Gregorio, a Central Panay College of Science and Technology student, will face-off with the following at the finals at the Magsaysay Park: Wilbert “DJ Q2” Andrade, Alex “DJ Alex” Buday and Joey “DJ Joey” Daulong.
The DJ Battle is a sidelight of the Kaleidoscope Party set up by the Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc., the festival organizer.
