ILOILO – Antidrug agents and police officers recovered yesterday suspected shabu, firearms and a grenade from the house of a former soldier and town councilor in Barangay Poblacion, Badiangan.

Jenie Sabano was arrested. Facing charges for possession of illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms and explosive, he was detained at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) facility in Iloilo City.

Acting on a tip, operatives of PDEA and the Badiangan police raided Sabano’s house around 6:30 a.m. on the strength of a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Guiljie Delfin-Lim.

They seized 10 plastic packs of suspected shabu, two shotguns, a .9mm pistol, a .38 revolver, a grenade, 21 pieces of M203 bullets, and other assorted ammunition.

Sabano denied owning the alleged illegal drugs and the M203 bullets but admitted owning the firearms.

In a radio interview, he also denied being a drug peddler.

Inspector Henry Gaborno, Badiangan police chief, confirmed the former soldier was not in their watch list of drug personalities.

“He had no criminal record, too,” Gaborno said./PN
